Winchester Model 1894 25-35 Win
Reference #1046
Offers considered, no trades.
Winchester Model 1894 in 25-35 Winchester with full length magazine and 26" round barrel, lever action dated 1918.
Factory wood is excellent on forend, and in good shape on butt stock. There is a crack and small chip on butt stock in photos. Wood has been period lacquered, most worn off the wood but evident on original metal butt plate. Butt plate laquered but in excellent shape. Screws show use but overall very good. Metal overall in good shape with a few marks and showing light petina. However the magazine, shown in photos, appears to have been banged up like something heavy fell on it or maybe a horse coming over on the rider after being spooked by a grizzly bear who knows. The rifle is 106 years old. It is straight and 99% full diameter so I believe it will still feed. Bluing is less than 25% on receiver and lower barrel from handling I suspect.
Bore shows corrosion from use with black powder but rifling shows full length, I'd call it 50%. Muzzle and crown are good.
Original sites are intact, however I am not sure if the buck has been cut iff of the bu khorn, shown in pictures. You guys tell me, I have seen so many like this including replacement site. Is this original or were the cut to allow easier feeding in and out of scabbard. Elevator in place.
I have no snap caps for this caliber. Gate on magazine solid, loading ramp works as it should, ejector is solid with good spring, half cock safety solid and strong hammer spring. There is nothing here to make me concerned. I grade this firearm as 'Fair'.
